The New Popular Front (NFP) published a letter in which its members call for citizen, political and activist mobilization. The goal is to push the government to “repair the public hospital”.
The government budget is back on the table. François Bayrou would have taken Michel Barnier’s copy to begin the titanic work that awaits him, as well as the Minister of the Economy, which has caused opposition to surge. According to several left-wing elected officials, “the same causes have the same effects” and a similar budget presented to deputies will not be voted on, which could lead to further censorship of the government if it attempts to pass the text by force.
The left makes its demands known. In a letter published on Saturday January 4, the New Popular Front lists several measures to “repair the public hospital and access to local care”. Posted on the social network Blue Sky by Lucie Castet, the letter was signed by figures from the left, such as the former candidate for Matignon, Olivier Faure, first secretary of the PS, Marine Tondelier, national secretary of the Greens, Manuel Bompard, coordinator of LFI, and several elected representatives of the PCF as well as representatives of caregivers.
What are the demands of the left?
Several priorities are set out in this letter: “Obtain the adoption of a budget which finally gives the public health system the means to function properly”, “defend the adoption of the bill from the socialist groups already voted by the Senate relating to the establishment of a minimum number of caregivers per hospitalized patient, which will be defended by the deputies of the New Popular Front on January 23”, during the parliamentary niche of the PS, and “to defend the adoption of the proposal of transpartisan law to fight against medical deserts, which should make it possible to better distribute, better train and better support those who care for us on a daily basis. The latter was signed by 237 deputies from all sides, except the RN and the UDR, Eric Ciotti’s group.
