In Burkina Faso, the Minister of National Reconciliation, Yero Boly, gives details on the process of dialogue with young Burkinabè enlisted in armed groups. Local dialogue committees, made up of religious and customary chiefs, are already at work. The minister indicates that the government does not negotiate with terrorist groups, but supports these dialogue committees.

According to the Minister of Social Cohesion and National Reconciliation, this is a dialogue with young Burkinabè and not a negotiation with armed groups. The idea of this dialogue also comes from these young fighters wishing to lay down their arms, underlines Yero Boly.
” It is a dialogue between young people who want to return and who have asked to see their local leaders. I think the concern is talking to people they consider credible, capable of making commitments and keeping them. The reason is that we are at an impasse. The path they have embarked on is a path with no future. This is the observation made by these young people. »
A coordination bringing together several ministries will be put in place to supervise the operation. But already in some localities, such as Djibo, in the province of Soum, meetings are already underway between young people and religious leaders. At the end of the process, all those who lay down their arms will benefit from support for their social reintegration.
“ For the moment, apart from the possibilities of social reintegration of those who will return, we have no estimate. It will not be monetary. We have no money to give. We can encourage in agriculture and we can help in breeding, but not in money. »
According to the Minister of Social Cohesion and National Reconciliation, the local committees will do the work of dialogue with children from Burkina who want to return to the village. And the other security components will continue their work on the ground.
