Enel was one of the most iconic opponents Luffy faced in One Piece. He ruled over Skypiea as a self-proclaimed god. But the Straw Hat Gang ended his reign when Luffy defeated him. But did you know that Enel is not dead and has fulfilled his biggest dream?
What kind of dream did Enel have? Enel wanted to reach the moon, which he also refers to as “Fairy Vearth.” For this purpose he had a massive ark built called Maxim. In his homeland there was a legend that the legendary land was located there.
By eating the thunder fruit, Enel can supply the ark with energy. With the electrical energy it is even possible for the ark to fly through space. The ark was partly made from the gold from the ruins of Shandora, which is supposed to transmit electricity.
After the fight against Luffy, it initially appears that Enel has been defeated and most of the ark has been destroyed. But thanks to the cover stories of the One Piece manga, we know that Enel somehow managed to fly the ark to the moon.
The Egghead arc can currently be seen in One Piece. Sing along at the opening:
Enel lands on the moon and becomes the new ruler
How is Enel doing on the moon? Shortly after landing, Enel encounters an Automata named First Lieutenant Spacey. The Automata are small creatures that were created on Earth. But its creator choked while watching an explosion on the moon and died.
So the Automata boarded balloons to fly to the moon. They wanted to take revenge on those responsible for the explosion. In the present, Spacey asks Enel for help because the Automata have been attacked by space pirates. Enel helps the little creatures and defeats the pirates in no time.
You can take a closer look at Enel and his little helpers in the following tweet:
Enel later discovers that there is an ancient city on the moon called Birka. It has the same name as the sky island from which the self-proclaimed thunder god comes. The residents at the time were technologically advanced and used the automata to make their lives easier.
Shortly afterwards, Enel shocks the old ruins and supplies some of the previously dormant automata with energy. The resurrected Automata thank Enel.
From old drawings on the wall, Enel deduces that the lunar inhabitants are the ancestors of the people who live in Skypiea, Shandora and Birka on Earth. They had to leave the moon because resources were running out. So they left the Automata on the moon with a heavy heart.
Enel realizes that the entire moon now belongs to him with the Automata as his subjects. That’s why he decides to live on the moon from now on and build his new empire there. So he will probably not meet the Straw Hat Gang again and it is unlikely that he will ever appear in One Piece again.
He would probably have significantly worse chances against Luffy and the others now. This is how the Straw Hat Gang would currently do in a battle royale: One Piece: The members of the Straw Hat Gang in the ranking – This is how Luffy, Franky and the others do
