The Perth County OPP has charged a 38-year-old West Perth resident with sexually assaulting a person younger than 16 on several occasions over a six-month period.
Police said Tuesday they launched an investigation into the sexual assaults after receiving a report on Jan. 1. Police allege the youth was sexually assaulted numerous times between June 2022 and January 2023. Police said the accused and the victim were previously known to each other.
The West Perth resident was arrested and charged with sexual assault on a person younger than 16 years of age, sexual interference, and invitation to sexual touching.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The identity of the accused is being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.
