A 38-year-old West Elgin man is facing several drug charges after being arrested by provincial police in Chatham-Kent following search warrants in West Elgin and Dutton-Dunwich.
The OPP community street crime units from Elgin, Oxford-Brant Lambton and Halidmand-Norfolk, along with the West Region emergency response team, executed search warrants at two locations in West Elgin and one in Dutton-Dunwich on Oct. 27.
The search warrants were obtained after the accused was taken into custody that same day in Chatham-Kent with help from the West Region regional support team and the West Region tactics and rescue unit, OPP said.
More than $2,500 in cash was seized, along with a variety of prescription drugs, police said.
The accused faces four counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking that includes cocaine, opioids and other drugs. He also faces two counts of drug possession, along with possession of property obtained by crime with a value less than $5,000 and failing to comply with a release order, OPP said.
The accused was ordered into custody following a bail hearing.
