Hail, torrential rain and a funnel cloud over Brantford were all part of a sudden change in weather Saturday night.

After a brief hail- and rainstorm disrupted the Grand River Arts Festival on the grounds of Glenhyrst Art Gallery around suppertime Saturday, Brantford’s Bob Yuhasz saw a group of people looking skyward.
“I thought, ‘Oh, there must be a rainbow,’” Yuhasz said.
Instead, he saw an ominous-looking funnel cloud.
He snapped a photo of the cloud from the Glenhyrst parking lot, facing north, noting the cloud didn’t appear to have touched down anywhere, but dissipated at it moved southeast.
“Everyone was looking at it and kind of holding their breath,” Yuhasz said.
Photos of the funnel cloud were posted in various platforms of social media and picked up by The Weather Channel and news media as far off as Britain.
