The Sarnia-area was a busy Saturday with this year’s running of a Canadian Cancer Society fundraiser and memorial, a cadet corps ceremonial review and Sarnia’s Kids Funfest.

Sarnia’s Relay for Life had already raised $69,000 by Sarnia morning for the Canadian Cancer Society, passing the goal of $65,000.

That total was expected to grow with donations being accepted online, relayforlife.ca/sarniathrough the end of August.

There were 26 teams, with 175 participants, taking part in the event at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.

The 2563 First Hussars Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps – Lambton held its 35th annual ceremonial review Saturday on the grounds of the former South Plympton school near Wyoming.

Many of the about 30 cadets in the corps paraded while watched by family and reviewing officer Tania Lee, honorary Lieutenant Colonel of the First Hussars Regiment.

Several awards for members of the corps were presented during the review.

Sarnia’s Kids Funfest was held Saturday in the big field at Canatara Park, with information booths and activities by several local organizations serving youth.
