    School is a struggle for survival. South Korean horror series All Of Us Are Dead takes this to the extreme as Hyosan School becomes the epicenter of a zombie apocalypse and the entire student body is suddenly thrown into survival mode. With a pinch of bitter social criticism, sensitivity for the young characters and hordes of aggressive infected, the series unleashes a fast-paced mix of high school drama and bloody zombie action.

    Based on Michael Connelly’s Comans, the Netflix crime series follows attorney Mickey Haller as he roams around Los Angeles in his Lincoln Town Car, handling numerous cases left to him by a deceased fellow attorney. Here it is less the overarching case of a tech mogul accused of murder, but the sympathetic ensemble of characters in Mickey’s world that inspires.

  • With Sandman, Netflix has broken the self-imposed adaptation curse and finally adapted a popular template (in this case, Neil Gaiman’s legendary graphic novel) into a worthy film. The dark fantasy series about the dream ruler, a member of the 7 Eternals who has returned from captivity after more than 100 years, creates a fantastic world through a wide variety of characters, themes and genres that is defined by dreams and human desires.

    A new incarnation was launched in 1999 to mark the 30th anniversary of the legendary Woodstock Festival. Unfortunately, Woodstock III didn’t become the music festival for eternity, but rather a frightening disaster. Chronicling the catastrophic escalation, Absolute Fiasco: Woodstock ’99 is not only a shocking documentary, but also a tremendously entertaining one.

    The Dahmer success came out of nowhere. With little publicity in advance and despite all the controversy, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s dark true-crime series about serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer (played by Evan Peters), who killed a total of 17 men between 1978 and 1991, climbed the streaming charts and secured 3rd place in the most watched English-language Netflix series – only surpassed by Stranger Things 4 and the next place in this ranking.

    In the competition between the two most successful Netflix series of the year, the surprise hit Wednesday came out on top with over a billion hours watched in the first few weeks. Jenna Ortega’s take on the morbidly sarcastic Addams Family daughter is already cult. Whether it’s the countless one-liners, the fantastic Harry Potter-esque school setting, the lovable outsider characters, the twisting crime plot and, last but not least, a dance scene for eternity: With Wednesday, Netflix has finally found a fantasy success that does almost everything right .

    Set in the world of the immensely popular video game Cyberpunk 2077, the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners tells the story of teenager David, whose life becomes increasingly dominated by crime, violence and cybernetic body modifications. With a detailed sci-fi world and a rough and rough style, Edgerunners delighted fans of the gaming template as well as those who had no previous contact with Night City’s underworld.
