Webuild starts work on a water treatment plant in Saudi Arabia

(Finance) – Fisia Italimpianti, a Group company Webuildhas officially started construction of the water treatment plant for the vast ZULUF onshore oil complex in the Persian Gulf in Saudi Arabia.
The project, which marked the entry of Fisia Italimpianti into the Oil & Gas sector and its return to Operation & Maintenance, strengthens Webuild’s positioning in the water market, with high growth potential and in which the Group has been a leader for years world.

Owned and operated by Saudi Aramco, the ZULUF field is the subject of a large growth program, started in 2018, as part of the country’s development plan “Saudi Vision 2030”. The project was awarded to Fisia Italimpianti last year, with two contracts worth a total of €408 million (USD 439 million), respectively for the construction and operation of the ZULUF water treatment plant.

The formal start of the construction of the new plant follows the design, the procurement activities of the materials and the execution of a series of preliminary activities aimed at improving the characteristics of the soil, which Fisia Italimpianti has carried out in recent months to make the site able to accommodate the foundations of the system.
