(Finance) – Webuildbig Italian construction and engineering company, was awarded in the consortium the contract for a total value of 291 million euros for the modernization and doubling of Lot 3 of one of the most important railway lines in Romaniathe Caransebes-Timisoara-Arad, which, once completed, will enhance the connections of the capital Bucharest, with the western part of the country and with the rest of Europe.
Lot 3 works will be carried out by Webuild, with a share of 72.1% and leader of the building consortium, with Salcef (27.9%). The activities carried out by Salcef, a company listed on Euronext STAR Milan and active in the railway infrastructure sector, exclusively include the design and construction of therailway superstructure and of electrification systemsremaining in charge of the partner for all other activities, including civil infrastructural works.
For the realization they will be employing 600 peopledirect and third parties.
The project is in fact part of the Rhine-Danube corridor of the TEN-Tthe trans-European transport network that aims to increase sustainable mobility for goods and people in the European Union.
The new contract provides for the design and execution of modernization work on approximately 14 kilometers of railway line between East Timisoara to Ronat, in western Romania. The works include modernization and doubling of the line from single to double track, without interrupting the service for the existing section.
