Météo France classifies two departments as orange alert for wind. The alert is expected to remain in place until Monday afternoon.
The departments of Loire and Rhône have been classified as orange alert for wind by Météo France. The alert will be effective from 8 p.m. this Sunday, January 5, and will last until Monday afternoon. According to the meteorological expert, this wind is due to “a disturbance on the Atlantic coasts” and “the wind will strengthen over the country during the day on Sunday”.
Weather France nevertheless specifies that this event will be less strong than storm Bert at the end of September. The wind forecast for early evening this Sunday comes from the south and is expected to reach “values exceeding 90 to 100 km/h in gusts during the night in the south of the Rhône and Loire departments”. “We will be able to locally reach values around 110 to 120 km/h,” specifies Météo France.
Vigilance on the roads
This orange vigilance comes a few hours after the death of a young 20-year-old motorist on the roads of Burgundy on Saturday evening. Côte-d’Or was placed on orange alert for snow and ice. Motorists who will be on the Rhône and Loire roads during the alert are invited to be particularly vigilant and adapt their speed.
Residents of the affected areas are also invited to protect their homes and well exposed to the wind, to stay informed, not to go to places where objects or trees could fall, not to intervene at height and to install generators outside the houses.
