During this first weekend of the year, a difference of almost 10 degrees will be observed in certain departments.
While the end-of-year celebrations were marked by rather mild weather, a disturbance has been sweeping across the country since Thursday, January 2. Colder air has invaded France and is spreading, notably with the return of frost this Friday. Temperatures thus fell 3 degrees below seasonal norms, according to The Weather Channel. However, the sun remains over the northern half and towards Auvergne and Franche-Comté. In the rest of the country, the weather is cloudier.
For Saturday, from the Atlantic coast to Auvergne, a risk of rain is forecast and the cold air will remain with negative temperatures in the northern half and the east. Morning frosts are therefore forecast for 3/4 of the country, which will persist into the afternoon from Normandy to the Grand Est. At the end of the day, a risk of snow and freezing rain is even envisaged north of the Seine, from Hauts-de-France to the north of Alsace. You will therefore have to be careful.
It is during the night from Saturday to Sunday that a radical change is expected. The cold air will be driven towards the Benelux and Germany. Temperatures will rise very quickly overnight. On Sunday afternoon, they will exceed 10 degrees over 90% of the territory, rising to more than 15 degrees in the Pyrenees.
More precisely, Météo-France announces 3 degrees in Paris on Saturday evening compared to 10 degrees on Sunday morning. In 24 hours, certain departments will experience an increase of almost 10 degrees: Météo-France forecasts 2 degrees in Brest Saturday morning compared to 14 Sunday morning, -3 degrees in Auxerre Saturday morning compared to 11 degrees 24 hours later or even -1 degree in Lyon against 8 degrees the next day.
Rain is expected to fall on Sunday north of the Loire while beautiful clearings will light up the south. This weather could continue next week according to the trends revealed by Météo-France: “The weather should be unsettled and humid with fairly frequent rainy spells. Temperatures will be close to or even higher than seasonal norms.”
