(Finance) – A serious one weather emergency is affecting the Central Northern Italy due to cyclone Ciaran. The Anas operations centers (Infrastructure Hub of the FS Italiane Group), in these hours of maximum criticality, announced the closure of 13 state roads in various regions of the country. All Anas teams in the area were mobilized for safety and traffic interventions.
The Anas operations centers, active 24 hours a day, are collaborating with the Prefectures, the regional and national Civil Protections, the Fire Brigade, the Police Forces and the municipal administrations to manage the emergency.

In Veneto The closure of state road 51 “Alemagna” in Fadalto, in the province of Treviso, and state road 52 “Carnica” between Cimagogna and Auronzo di Cadore, in the province of Belluno, remains closed due to landslides and rock falls. On the Venezia Giulia state road 14, due to the flooding of the river, the bridge over the Tagliamento river, near the border with Friuli-Venezia Giulia, was closed in the morning as a precaution, following an alert from the Civil Protection. it is manned by Anas staff in order to monitor the river level and for traffic management. Furthermore, along the “Adriatica” state road 16, monitoring of the Adige river is always active following the floods of recent days. Anas had started the safety activities of the construction site at the bridge between Boara Pisani in the province of Padua and Rovigo, lifting the scaffolding and nets.
In Liguria Due to heavy rainfall in the Ligurian East, Anas has ordered the closure of the state road 586 “della Val d’Aveto” to Rezzoaglio, in the province of Genoa. The stretch was reopened to traffic on 1 November, after a large landslide affected the road on Monday 30 October. The measure was taken as a precaution to protect road traffic in consideration of the violent bad weather which could trigger sudden movements of the landslide front. Furthermore, this morning another section of the state road in the Borzonasca area was closed due to a new landslide. Due to a strong sea storm, state road 1 “Via Aurelia” is temporarily closed to traffic at km 475.300, between Sestri Levante and Lavagna. The provision, which affects the road network at the Sant’Anna tunnel, was adopted to protect traffic along the stretch. Still on state road 1 “Via Aurelia”, closure of the section from km 548.500 to km 549.000, in Arenzano, due to a storm.
In Lombardy State road 45 “Ter Gardesana Occidentale” is closed due to flooding of the Seriola Tunnel in Villanuova sul Clisi, in the province of Brescia.
In Tuscany, the state road 12 “of Abetone and Brennero” is closed in Borgo a Mozzano (km 44,200), in the province of Lucca, due to a landslide sliding on the slope overlooking the road. Traffic is diverted onto secondary roads with signs on site. The state road 62 “della Cisa” is closed in the municipality of Pontremoli (MS) near the pass (km 52), due to a landslide which involved and structurally damaged the road body. There is no alternative road on site. On state road 1 “Aurelia” a section of the southern carriageway in Viareggio is temporarily closed due to falling trees. Traffic is diverted with mandatory exit at Bicchio and return to Marina di Torre del Lago. Removal and cleaning of the road surface is underway on site. On the state road 67 “Tosco Romagnola” a section in Empoli (km 46,500) is closed due to the flooding of an underpass. Traffic is diverted onto municipal roads with signs on site. Restoration work is underway.
In Emilia Romagna a landslide invaded the roadway of state road 45 “Val di Trebbia” causing its closure with traffic diversions on the municipal road system. Rock climbers are currently working to make the slope safe.
In Friuli Venezia Giulia we are currently passing in an alternating one-way along state road 54 “del Friuli”, which had been closed during the night due to a landslide. Furthermore, in the region, surveillance and monitoring by Anas technicians has been underway since yesterday on some arteries: state roads 54 “del Friuli”, 55 “dell’Isonzo”, “52 bis Carnica”, the Trieste junctions , the state road 202 “Triestina”, the state road 14 of Venezia Giulia.
