Chatham-Kent police responded to a weapons complaint in Chatham on Saturday afternoon.
The suspect arrived at an address in a car and was allegedly observed with what appeared to be a long gun wrapped in a sweater, police said.
Police added the suspect was located and that the weapon was found to be a shotgun wrapped in a sweater.
The suspect, a 42-year-old Chatham man, was arrested. He reportedly did not have a valid possession and acquisition license for the firearm and was also on a criminal weapons prohibition, police said. He was charged with eight weapons offences.
The vehicle the suspect allegedly arrived in was reported stolen from Chatham while officers were investigating the weapons complaint.
The man was further charged with theft and possession of stolen property over $5,000. He was held for bail.

On Saturday afternoon, a Lambton County man was located in Wallaceburg.
The 28-year-old had outstanding warrants for charges of driving under suspension and changing lanes not in safety and was arrested, police said. He was released with a short date.
