Ukraine managed to shoot down all Russian projectiles in the latest attack. But to be able to continue with such successes requires the West to send fighter jets. This is what the President of Ukraine says in a speech to the Council of Europe in Reykjavik.
– Today we were exposed to an intense Russian robot attack. Last night 18 Russian projectiles came from the sky, says Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his speech via video link.
– Ukraine’s forces managed to shoot down all 18. So that’s 100 percent.
– And we cannot leave a single percent to the attacker. That’s why we need more air defense and we need fighter jets.
His speech was met with applause on the spot in Reykjavik by, among others, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. They have signaled more support for Ukraine in recent days, but have not yet explicitly promised when fighter jets might be delivered.
