Fourteen years later, in short is back for a season 2 on Disney+. But is this suite a successful bet? We saw the series, here is our opinion.
Fans were waiting for him (almost) more. And yet, Brief Returns this week in streaming, fourteen years after its final broadcast then on Canal+. The first season, carried by Kyan Khojandi, had implemented the public by his way of chewing, with episodes of barely a few minutes, the portrait of a generation which struggles to adapt to adulthood. Brief 2 is not afraid to look in the white of the eyes, and if the similarities between the two series are obvious, this season 2 amazed by its maturity.
This season 2 of Brief is shorter (six episodes instead of 82), but the episodes are longer (around thirty minutes), which would have something to deconance the fans who loved short format which devour on the thumb in five minutes. But this change is essential to allow the hero interpreted by Kyan Khojandi to finally question himself. Recently entered the forties after having (still) repeated the same mistakes, our hero is now steeped in doubts and uncertainties. But he has no choice: he must go ahead and change.

Over the six episodes, we see the hero growing, questioning ourselves, without losing what made the salt of the first season. And this is all the success of this season 2 of Brief : succeed in remaining funny and impactful while winning in depth and maturity. The tone changes, malice remains. In short, it justifies its existence fourteen years later, while retaining its DNA. Romantic, family, friendly relationships, our relationship to work, mourning, regrets … Everything is examined with a magnifying glass with sincerity, precision and biting.
This second salve of episodes overflows with guest-stars, each of which succeeds in shining and justifying its existence (Jean-Paul Rouve, Laura Felpin, Doria Tillier, Thomas VDB, Carlito, Jonathan Coen, Orelsan, Alexandre Astier come to join the Baptiste Lecaplain , Alice David and Bérengère Krief) without anyone falling into the artificial gimmick. Everyone comes to bring their touch, be it madness, tenderness or malice.
And if the episodes are longer, they however retain the narrative inventiveness which had made the reputation of season 1. Because each episode overflows with creative and visual discoveries to symbolize the kaleidoscope of reflections and neuroses of its protagonist. Impossible not to find yourself, at least once, in the series. In short, it is a success to discover from this Friday, February 14. It is on Disney+, a subscription streaming platform, that you have to go to discover the six new episodes.
