Looking for the masterminds behind the crime • The warning signs to look out for
Explosions and shootings have decreased.
But on the other hand, the propensity for violence is still high, says Emil Eisersjö, deputy commanding officer at the national police operation Frigg.
– It seems to be difficult to break, he says.
On Monday morning, a man was shot with several shots at a restaurant at Kungens kurva.
Shortly afterwards, a 14-year-old boy who was suspected of the crime was arrested.
The incident is just the latest example of children killing in Sweden today.
The police: “We prevent crime almost every day”
– 13 to 14-year-olds are no longer unusual, says Emil Eisersjö, deputy commanding officer at the national police operation Frigg. Their main goal is to break the wave of violence in criminal environments and create a new law enforcement system.
– It is a very broad problem with many different roots, where we in society need to chip in from different directions. We at the police do what we can and we have developed our ability to prevent crime. We do that almost every day, he says.
Eisersjö says that shootings and explosions have decreased recently. He also points out that fewer have been killed and injured.
However, the propensity for violence remains high.
– It is a serious situation, and it is especially this propensity for violence that seems to be difficult to break, he says.
Warning signals: “Two phones”
The police aim to find those who are behind it – the buyers. At the same time, Emil Eisersjö believes that the whole society needs to help each other.
– It’s about business, football associations, schools and parents, he says and continues:
– Here it is important to step in and act immediately. The alternative is that the child might carry out an act of violence like the one in The King’s Curve. Then it will be difficult to return to a normal life in the future.
There are also warning signs to look out for.
– Two phones – why does a 14-year-old have two phones? Or when the child stops asking for money or starts hanging out with older people, says Eisersjö.
