“We must be able to intercept children under the age of 15”

Lise Tamm has stuck out her chin before on the issue of the fight against the gangs. She believes that interception of children under 15 is now the most important point – to prevent them from murdering.
– The whole thing is to prevent them from committing crimes – to catch up!

Lise Tamm is now a prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, but previously worked as head of the National Unit against International and Organized Crime. Her international contacts led to Sweden getting access to the information in Encrochat.

Want to be able to eavesdrop on younger people

And even though she now works abroad, she still keeps track of what is happening in Sweden, and eavesdropping is close to her heart. One of the most important measures against gang crime, she thinks, is the possibility of intercepting children under the age of 15.

– We need to be able to eavesdrop even on children under the age of 15, and we can’t do that today. The whole point is to prevent them from committing crimes – to get ahead of them. If you hear them on the lines, you can map them beforehand – then you can perhaps prevent them from murdering, she says in Nyhetsmorgon.

“You can stop them in time”

Sweden differs from other countries in Europe precisely in this respect, she believes, and welcomes the fact that an investigation has been appointed.

– In the rest of Europe, you have this with participation in a criminal association, you then have coercive measures against them. Then you have time to stop them before they have time to commit the crimes, says Lise Tamm.

She wants to put extra pressure on preventive work.

– There are very few people who end up in the wrong and it’s them we have to catch already at preschool. We will start at BVC! Look at how Denmark is doing – it’s not you who go to BVC, it’s them who come to your home.
