It was in the Sunday interview in P1 that Sven-Göran Eriksson told that he had suffered from cancer and that he “has at best a year” left to live.
On Thursday, it was announced that the legendary football coach will be at the Sports Gala on Monday.
– We are very happy and think it is super fun that he wants and can come. We have prepared a place for him at the honors table, says Idrottsgalan CEO Stephan Rimér.
Have you planned any tributes to him?
– I can’t say that. I think his presence alone gets him noticed. I think it is inevitable that his presence will affect the evening.

With the gala’s large number of visitors, there is still something of a risk of infection for cancer sufferer Sven-Göran Eriksson.
Have you taken any extra safety measures to reduce the risk of infection?
– Not in addition to the security routines that we have in place in general, which are quite comprehensive. But it is clear that there is a little less movement around the honors table as well, says Stephan Rimér.
