“We have heard of your feedback” – LOL changes hated and greedy innovations

League of Legends has not had a good stand in large parts of the community since the new Season 2025. Many innovations were strongly criticized by the community. Now Riot has given an update and rowed back in places.

Why was Riot criticized? With the new Season LOL, there were many changes in 2025 that were not just a playful nature. A new Battlepass structure and a new skin type that started in 2024 came from the community.

These changes were perceived as “greedy”. Riot Games apparently wanted to press out more money from the existing players after losing some players and those willing to pay in 2024 at LOL.

All of this meant that parts of the community complained in many places, for example under regular videos or in response to Riot posts. The great criticism that Riot Games is getting too greedy, but seems to have moved a bit, because Riot is now concerned with many criticisms, as they explain in a new blog post.

Riot changes the Battle Pass again, other criticisms are also important

What is changed? In a new blog post on your official website and a development video on YouTube, Riot announces that many systems will be revised after the great criticism of the players. You say: We want to put the players in the first place, and if our decisions do not fail as we imagined it, this can damage their trust.

The following adjustments will be available in the future:

  • The free hextech chests return. There will be 10 per act, 8 of them in the free Battlepass, 2 via a Honor system. According to Riot, there will be up to 60 free chests a year. From patch 25.05 they should return.
  • The costs in blue essences for every champion are halved with patch 25.05.
  • The new Exalted Mordakaiser Skin is postponed to improve it. In general, the quality of the Battle Pass is to be improved.
  • The battle Pass purchased will have one skin less, but you get 25 mythical essences in the passport.
  • Clash mode should return monthly.
  • The Your Shop should return in Patch 25.06.
  • With Patch 25.07, the Blue Essence Emporium is to return by buying skins with the blue essences.

    • With these changes, Riot deals with many of the criticisms of the past few months. Another big criticism is the exalted gacha system, which should generally not change, you now want to adapt the quality for the next skin. But you want to make advertising in the launcher less intrusive.
