The crazy survival game Palworld has been in Early Access since yesterday and is already one of the most played games on Steam. MeinMMO tells you why this led to an update in the backend of Epic Games.
Update: The article had barely appeared when Palworld had already broken the 715,000 simultaneous player mark on Steam. This puts it in 9th place among the games with the highest all-time peaks of all time and kicks Apex Legends out of the top 10 (via Steamcharts).
This is how successful Palworld is: Even before the early access launch, it became apparent that the crazy survival game could be a success when it conquered the Twitch charts. However, such numbers cannot always be easily translated into the commercial success of a game.
Sometimes potential buyers don’t really trust the hype and prefer to get an idea by watching others play before buying. Did someone say “The Day Before”? At Palworld, however, the situation so far looks much more positive than with the failed survival hope. You can see what Palworld has already achieved in less than 24 hours here:
However, the huge onslaught also poses an unexpected burden.
Palworld is so successful that Epic had to update its backend
How are the servers? Apparently they couldn’t quite keep up with the enormous rush. This mainly resulted in problems with the multiplayer. As the developers on X, formerly Twitter, report, the connection difficulties when hosting co-op games are due to a problem in the backend of Epic Games.
Developer Pocketpair also reveals that there had already been an emergency meeting with Epic Games, whereupon a short-term update was initiated at Epic Games. Accordingly, players should notice an improvement in connection issues.
It can also be deduced from this that Pocketpair uses Epic Online Services for the Palworld servers.
