Hundreds of young people queued all night to get a goodie bag at the opening of Lyko’s new store in Stockholm. But several of those who queued the longest had to go home empty-handed.
The company then promised a solution for the lucky ones who got in touch.
But now they are turning around – no more goodie bags will be distributed.
Before the opening day on Saturday, Lyko had promised that the first 500 visitors to their new store in central Stockholm would receive a goodie bag worth thousands of kroner.
Many of those who were attracted by the offer started queuing already late on Friday and spent the night in place in the queue.
One of them is Lovisa Westergren, 16, from Täby, who was left without a goodie bag after chaos arose in the queue.
– I started queuing at 10 p.m., so me and my friends ended up among the first 100 in the queue. We slept outside, but got nothing, she says.
Lyko slopes: There are no goodie bags
The beauty chain’s CEO Patrick Lyko has apologized for the kitchen chaos and offered a “solution” to those who missed out on a goodie bag and who contact customer service.
Lovisa Westergren then contacted the company and sent pictures showing where she was before the outbreak broke out.
But now he backs down and says there are no more goodie bags to hand out.

Lovisa Westergren says that she at least hoped to receive some form of compensation.
– A gift card or maybe a mini-goodie bag. I spent my entire weekend on this. I am very disappointed and annoyed with the company. I think it’s irresponsible of the company not to do this better.
Lyko: Impossible
Rickard Lyko tells Aftonbladet that roughly 3,000 people have contacted me and said they feel dissatisfied with the kitchen chaos.
– It is impossible for us to assess who was actually there. We have made the assessment that we cannot decide who is right. Should we start to assess, there is a risk that it will create even more chaos.
He says the company is sorry.
– We are of course very sad that it has turned out like this, he says and continues:
– In the email to those who get in touch, I have written my number. I have been taking calls all evening. You can absolutely call me if you have an opinion about it and I’m the one you can get angry at.

FAKTALyko’s answer in its entirety
“You are receiving this email as a response to what you sent to our customer service.
First of all, I just want to say that I completely understand the frustration and disappointment! ❤️ After trying, queuing and hoping for so long and then still being without the hotly awaited goodie bag… DISAPPOINTMENT!
We could not have dreamed in our wildest imagination that so many Lyko fans would come. Absolutely crazy and ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!
We are so incredibly grateful! …but with hindsight we can state that our preparations were not enough at all. This has really been an eye opener for us.
Had we known what we know today, much would have looked different and we would have planned for and handled the queue situation in a different way. We’ll take care of that!
I sincerely apologize that we did not do better. We have received SEVERAL THOUSANDS of testimonials from disappointed visitors and we HEAR you all, but the fact remains – there were only 500 goodie bags and they are gone.
We hope that, in the midst of all the frustration, you have some understanding. I wish you a continued nice day”, says the email from Rickard Lyko.
