“We do not want to feel that …”

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

Peter Cehlarik was close to Leksand.
Now the reason why the star recruitment was revealed is revealed.
– We do not want to feel that we are just a stop before they move on, says Thomas Johansson to Hockeypuls.

Leksand has lost a handful of players to the NHL during the spring and summer, but it is difficult to talk away the signing of Marek Hrivik. The scoring machine has signed a four-year contract, and for a long time it looked like he would be joined by another proven scoring king.

Therefore, the dream business burst

Peter Cehlarik had great success with Leksand when he was in the SHL last time, before he left for the KHL, and during the spring it looked as if he too would return to the Dala team. According to Expressen, the star negotiated a three-year contract with the club, but suddenly he signed for Swiss Zug instead.

A big setback for Leksand – but now comes new information about why the deal broke down. According to Hockeypuls, it was all about Cehlarik wanting a so-called “out-clause” in his contract, which would allow him to leave for a European club after just one year. Leksand did not want that, according to the information – which instead led to him choosing Switzerland.

“Do not want to be a stop”

Thomas Johansson, sports director in Leksand, does not want to comment on the individual case, but believes that this is an idea that Leksand often has about established players.

– There are two different scenarios. One where we like to sign longer contracts with players we know before and we know work in Leksand. We do not want to feel that we are just a stop before they move on. We want to be able to be long-term, he says to the site.

Johansson believes, however, that the out-clauses can often be good when there are untried SHL players.

– But in the second scenario, we have no problems with out-clauses for players who come here for the first time, those we do not know will bounce. There, it’s stupid to tie up. A North American who comes here in two or three years can have an out in the contract if he should feel that it does not work, we are confident of that.
