“We did, maybe you should upgrade your PC.”

Starfield has now been released and some players want to know why the game has not been optimized for the PC. The head of Starfield has a clear answer to this.

Starfield has demanding system requirements and you need a reasonably fast gaming PC if you actually want to enjoy the game. You can play Starfield with weak hardware, but you don’t really want to. Because then the game looks anything but pretty.

There is an argument about optimization for every game, because many PC releases in 2023 were catastrophic. At Starfield, the players also wanted to know from the Starfield boss why the game was not optimized. And Todd Howard has an answer.

A next-generation game needs a good gaming PC

What does Todd Howard answer? In an interview with Bloomberg, Howard’s interviewer wanted to know why Starfield wasn’t optimized for the PC. Howard was visibly irritated by the question and then replied with a smile that the game was optimized (via ign.com):

We have this. It’s going great. It is a next generation PC game. We’re really pushing technology forward, so you may need to upgrade your PC for this game. But it has a lot of great stuff to offer and the fan reaction has been great.

How is the performance? There are already extensive tests on Starfield’s performance and they are surprisingly positive. Many explain that no Bethesda game has ever been released as cleanly as Starfield. According to testers, an SSD is also mandatory, otherwise the loading times would be forever long.

In fact, the new sci-fi game runs great on Steam and Xbox. There are still a few problems. Overall, however, you could experience Starfield without any serious problems.

Tip for Starfield: If you want to play Starfield, we recommend setting it up after starting before you really immerse yourself in the world of the new Bethesda game. Because with this you can increase your performance even further:

Starfield: You should definitely change this setting before you really play the role-playing game on Steam
