Both have fantastic NHL careers behind them.
Now Henrik Lundqvist and Peter Forsberg reveal what they prefer to spend their money on.
– I have no problem spending money there, admits “Foppa” to Discovery.
They are two of Swedish hockey’s greatest ever players. Both have also spent many years as celebrated stars in the NHL – we’re talking about, of course Henrik Lundqvist and Peter Forsberg.
Foppa and Henke
A clear proof of their fantastic hockey careers is that both had their jerseys hoisted in Denver and New York for their many fine years in the Colorado Avalanche and New York Rangers. In addition, the duo has also taken a place in the long-standing Hockey Hall of Fame, “Foppa” a few years ago and “Henke” this autumn.

Alongside their success on the ice, they have also managed to earn their fortunes during their active careers. According to the site CapFriendly, Forsberg should have recorded almost 800 million kroner and Lundqvist a little over 950 million kroner over the years.
Put money on
But what do they love to spend their money on after their careers end? They answer the private question together in an interview with the television channel Discovery in 2022.
– It’s nice to have a good, safe and environmentally friendly car… But I have no problem spending money on travel, admits Foppa and elaborates further:
– When you’ve stayed in so many hotel rooms… That is, some away trips, you didn’t know which room you were in. Then you stood in that chlorine shower after an away game against Columbus. So I have no problem spending money on travel. When you leave and get the opportunity, then I want to live well. It doesn’t have to be hot, it can be in a ski resort and then I actually want to live well. Then it is good that there was another contract.

Lundqvist likes to prioritize family and travel as well as his great interest in cars.
– Maybe it will be a few cars… But a bit like with Peter, it will be a trip or accommodation. Both in Sweden and in the USA. After everything that happens around the family, you feel that you can put a little extra, he tells the TV channel and admits that it can be difficult to keep expenses down in a city like New York.
– In New York it goes away, it can rattle as soon as you step outside the door. You have a pretty good pace on “cash flow” there.

Both also agree that they do their best not to spoil their children too much.
– I don’t think you spoil the children that much anyway. There is a “limit” to what they can get. I don’t think it will get better because they get lots of “cash” here and there. Little by little they will have to toil. I think it will be just the opposite if you spoil them, says Foppa in the interview.
– It’s probably a small battle you have to fight all the time. At the same time, you want to give everything to your children and show them appreciation. But you also don’t want to spoil them too much. You want to show them that work pays and nothing else, says Henke and continues:
– But it goes without saying that it has given me the opportunity to do fun things and not having that stress in life is a great luxury. But you want to teach them the importance of hard work and that things pay off, he says.
