WC gold Minja Korhonen 16 the combined youth world championship

Minja Korhonen, who celebrated two gold medals at the Youth Winter Olympics last week, now won her first World Youth Championship.

Minja Korhonen has won the combined women’s youth WC gold in Planica, Slovenia. This is Finland’s first medal in the under-20 category of these games.

Earlier this week Hilla Niemelä finished second in the under-23 free sprint.

Korhonen was fourth after the hill section, 39 seconds behind Norway Ingrid Laaten after. There was a lot of drama on the track, when Slovenia led the race by far after the first 2.5 kilometers Tia Malovrh had to interrupt.

The reason appeared to be dishwashing. The Slovenian apparently hit the track too early.

After this, the championship went to Korhonen, Germany Ronja Loh and the United States Alexa Brabec. Korhonen beat the American in the final fight and took the championship. Bronze for Germany’s Loh.

Korhonen couldn’t find words after his top performance.

– I don’t know what to say. I’m still in shock. In the end, I was able to untie the kir. It’s a great feeling.

16-year-old Korhonen has gotten used to success lately. Last week, he won two gold medals at the Youth Winter Olympics in South Korea. There he celebrated a personal gold medal as well as a team victory Heta Hirvonen, Eemeli Kurttilan mixed Peter Räisänen with.

In December, Korhonen made history by being the first Finnish woman to reach the podium at the World Cup level. He was third in Ramsau, Austria.

The super talent born in 2007, who rose to a completely new level, has placed 3–9 in all World Cup competitions this season.

Due to his age, he can participate in the Junior World Championships as many as three times if he wishes.
