WC GOLD! Armand Duplantis is completely superior in the pole vault final and wins the fifth straight gold medal

Armand Duplantis does it again!
The Swede wins WC gold tonight after a new performance.
This is “Mondo’s” fifth straight gold medal since 2020.

Ahead of the pole vault final on Saturday evening, there were really high expectations for a new Swedish WC gold medal. When the competitors disappeared one by one, there was not much that spoke against that Armand Duplantis would jump to another international championship medal.

Mondo’s dream start

Since 2020, “Mondo” has won Olympic gold, WC outdoor gold, WC indoor gold and EC outdoor gold and he started the new WC gold chase in the best possible way. Duplantis flew high, high above the entry height of 5.55 meters and then chose to stand over the next height.

After that, the Swedish world star cleared both 5.85 m and 5.95 m with ease on the first attempts and had a firm grip on the lead in the pole vault final. Duplantis was then the first jumper over the six-meter barrier and put hard pressure on his opponents during the World Athletics Championships.

Duplanti’s new gold

Once again, no one could really measure up to the world’s best pole vaulter and Armand Duplantis was completely superior in the final by clearing both 6.05m and 6.10m. The 23-year-old easily won WC gold and then celebrated big on the indoor court in Budapest .

This is Mondo’s second straight outdoor WC gold and fifth straight gold medal in international championships. The new gold medalist then chose to continue jumping himself and raised the bar to a new world record height of 6.23 meters.

But after three attempts, Duplantis failed to make new sports history and failed to set a new world record, although two of the jumps were very close.
