WC – round of 16

There are a total of 16 teams that have progressed to the round of 16 in the WC 2022. Most of the national teams are expectant – but the schedule also contains some big surprises.

You will find all matches, times and dates below. You can also see which odds we will bet on during the round of 16 in the World Cup.

Holland – USA

  • Date: 3/12
  • Time: 16:00
  • Betting tip: Holland wins the match (2.02 at Expekt)
  • TV: SVT1
  • Streaming: SVTPlay
  • As expected, Holland progressed from their group. Now they will face a USA that has impressed large parts of the world during the World Cup. It paves the way for a good and eventful round of 16 final.

There is no denying that it is Holland who are the favourites. Many of the betting sites in Sweden still have quite high odds on a Dutch victory against the USA. We think those odds are worth playing – as we think the US back line will have a tough time against Cody Gakpo and Memphis Depay. A straight 1st simply.

In the last match against Iran – the American star Christian Pulisic suffered a rib injury. It forced him to visit hospital. He has given reassuring news to the USA – announcing that he is ready for the round of 16 against Holland.

    Argentina – Australia

  • Date: 3/12
  • Time: 20:00
  • Betting tip: Aaron Mooy gets a yellow card (3.45 at MrGreen)
  • TV: SVT1
  • Streaming: SVTPlay
  • Australia progressed via second place in Group C after knocking Denmark out of the tournament. It’s a big surprise – especially given that Australia haven’t reached the round of 16 in the World Cup since 2006. Now they get a chance to show off against favorites Argentina.

We try to look for reasonable chances of a win for Australia. The only thing that speaks for Australia is hope. Argentina actually lost to Saudi Arabia during the group stage. That should make it hopeful that Australia will be able to pull off a similar feat.

We’re guessing that the slow midfield general in Australia – Aaron Mooy – will find it incredibly difficult to keep up with Messi, Di Maria and Martinez. This will be exploited to the max – and we believe Australia will be forced into many fouls to stop the Argentine advance. Not least in midfield.

    France – Poland

Poland has waited 36 years to advance to the round of 16 in the World Cup. However, the opposition could not be worse. On the other side of the pitch are reigning world champions France. A very difficult task for the Poles who need to rely on their main key players such as Robert Lewandowski, Piotr Zielinski and Wojchiech Szczesny.

The odds of a French win are incredibly low. It would be more playable to call the bang on a Polish win that exceeds 10.00 in odds. To be on the safe side, we instead place a bet on Franrike scoring at least two goals during regular match time.

    England – Senegal

England have shown both good and bad sides during the group stage. They managed to squeeze first place in Group B ahead of the USA. Which has meant that they are now facing Senegal in the World Cup round of 16.

On a normal day, England’s World Cup squad will win the match. Not least when Senegal has lost its big star Sadio Mané. The odds at the betting companies testify that England are big favourites.

The most surprising thing about England is that their goalscorer Harry Kane has scored 0 goals during the entire group stage. We believe the first goal will come against Senegal. Worth keeping in mind is that Harry Kane is the obvious penalty taker in England.

    Japan – Croatia

Nobody thought that Japan would – not only advance – but also win a group with both Germany and Spain. Now we are there. Japan will therefore face Croatia in the round of 16 in the World Cup.

We think Croatia has gradually gotten better and better the longer the tournament goes on. It is noticeable that the attack with Perisic, Kramaric and Livaja is becoming more and more interconnected. It will therefore be difficult for Japan’s mediocre backline to hold tight.

We believe that Croatia will go for the knock immediately. There is nothing to hold back when you have now reached the final game. We think Croatia will win by at least two goals against Japan.

    Morocco – Spain

  • Date: 6/12
  • Time: 16:00
  • Game tip: The match will be decided on penalties/overtime (4.10 at Expekt)
  • TV: TV4
  • Streaming: CMore
  • Morocco is perhaps the team that surprised the most purely in terms of play. They look like an established world team who will have no major problems taking on nations like Croatia and Belgium. This will be a difficult task for Spain, who are not really the favorites as the odds show.

Morocco seems to love their underdog position when they play Spain. They go into the match with everything to win. We think that will put more pressure on Spain coming from a loss against Japan.

We will play for a decider after regular match time. Therefore, we play on a cross in the match after 90 minutes. Then any team can progress – without our betting tip being threatened.
