WC quarter-finals (9/12 & 10/12)

It is now at the quarter-finals of the World Cup 2022. This means that we have 8 teams left to win the entire championship. Among the teams that have reached the quarter-finals, there are both expected favorites – but also a few surprises.

You can find all times, dates and tips for the upcoming matches here below!

Croatia – Brazil

  • Date: 9/12
  • Time: 16:00
  • Betting tip: Brazil to win both halves – 2/2 (2.00 at Expekt)
  • TV: SVT1
  • Stream: SVTPlay
  • Croatia were in bad shape when they qualified for the quarter-finals. They won against Japan after a raucous decision on penalties. It did not boost Croatia’s stocks ahead of the match against Brazil. A Brazil that completely ran over South Korea in their last match.

A weakened back line in Croatia will find it difficult to hold against perhaps the best attack of the World Cup. We think Brazil will go for the knock from the start. In the same spirit they did against South Korea last time. Then Brazil led at half-time with 4-0 at the break.

The bet we place at Expekt Sweden will be that Brazil will win both at half time and after full time. That gives us a playable odds!

    Holland – Argentina

  • Date: 9/12
  • Time: 20:00
  • Betting tip: Lionel Messi scores (2.60 at MrGreen)
  • TV: SVT1
  • Stream: SVTPlay
  • Friday 9/12 will end with the quarter-final between Holland and Argentina. A very even match that does not have an obvious favorite with Swedish betting sites. However, we think we see a slight advantage for Argentina, who actually have a better WC squad for the championship.

Much will be about the stars in the match. It will be incredibly important for Argentina that Lionel Messi plays a good game. Just as important on the other side is that Memphis Depay shows his front foot. It feels like a meeting where the seasoned players have to step up.

These situations are what Lionel Messi loves. We definitely think he will net against Holland. It is worth bearing in mind that Messi is written as a clear penalty shooter for Argentina.

    Morocco – Portugal

  • Date: 10/12
  • Time: 16:00
  • Betting tip: Number of goals for Morocco – Under 0.5 (2.08 at MrGreen)
  • TV: TV4
  • Stream: CMore
  • Morocco is the team that surprised by far the most during the entire World Cup 2022. No one seems to have thought that a quarter-final would be possible for the national team that had never before reached this far in a World Cup final. Is the journey over here?

If you are to believe the odds today, it is Portugal that is the big favorite before the match. It would be strange otherwise – as Portugal completely pulverized Switzerland 6-1 in their round of 16 final.

Morocco has had absolutely no goal celebrations in the matches in which they have scored. Instead, they have relied on a strong defensive game. Therefore, we believe that Morocco will get off the pitch after 90 minutes + stoppage time without scoring a goal against Portugal.

    England – France

  • Date: 10/12
  • Time: 20:00
  • Betting tip: France wins the match (2.40 at Betsson)
  • TV: TV4
  • Stream: CMore
  • Perhaps the match most people look forward to during the quarter-finals of the World Cup. This will clearly be a kind of main event where two of the strongest teams will settle for a place in the semi-finals. On one side we have Harry Kane, Bokayo Saka, Jude Bellingham and company. They are up against a Kylian Mbappé in great form – and Oliver Giroud who recently became the best French goalscorer in the national team – ever(!).

We consider it a slight advantage for France. Which the betting companies also confirm by having lower odds on a French win. It is still so high that we will play for a straight 2nd. We do not believe that overtime/penalties will be required. France does this during regular time.
