WC 1958 hero Reino Börjesson dead

Börjesson played a total of ten international matches for Sweden. During the 1958 World Cup on home soil, he was part of the team that took silver. In the WC final against Brazil at Råsunda, he played from the start.

During his club team career, he represented Jonsered and IFK Gothenburg, among others.

— Börjesson is a cornerstone in the association and a family with a big football heart and success. Jonsered is usually called the cradle of football and there Reino and his father have been the start to the level of club and dignity that the club is in Sweden today, says Peter Eriksson, chairman of Jonsered IF, to GP.

He died on the night of Saturday after being ill with pneumonia. Reino Börjesson was 94 years old.
