Work is scheduled to begin on the Wayne Gretzky Parkway intersection with Highway 403 on Monday, reducing traffic crossing the highway to one lane.

The project includes highway reconstruction and maintenance on the highway. City spokesperson Maria Visocchi said it is not part of the nearby work on Lynden Park Mall where a new Costco is going up.

The highway reconstruction work, which runs from west of Rest Acres Road to Garden Avenue, will redo some grading, paving, drainage and electrical work over about 15 kilometers of road.

The work will reduce traffic to one lane on Wayne Gretzky Parkway – both north and southbound for three months.

These closures are expected to last until mid-November.

“We understand that this may cause inconvenience and delay for those traveling through the area,” said Visocchi, “and, together with the MTO, we sincerely appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.”
