Hygiene at home is one of the most important issues for everyone, regardless of whether they are men or women. The toilet seat is also often guessed as the first dirtiest place that comes to mind. So why is a toilet seat a universal measure for “soil”? In most homes, toilet seats are frequently cleaned with potent chemicals, especially compared to the number of uses. They are non-porous and dry. So, they are not a great place for bacteria to breed.
The reality is that toilet seats remain the dirtiest place in our minds because people use the toilet. They’re probably covered in bacteria. But not as much as other items. The TV remote, the car key are actually dirtier than the toilet lid.
DISH SPONGE
Wet, porous kitchen sponges are a home for microorganisms, according to research at Germany’s Furtwangen University. In short, the dirtiest item in your home is the kitchen sponge. Do not forget to change the kitchen sponge frequently.
COFFEE MACHINE
Your coffee maker is twice as dirty as your toilet seat, according to germization research from the nonprofit public health organization NSF International. The coffee machine is the meeting point of bacteria such as salmonella and coli!
CHOPPING BOARD
University of Arizona researchers found that the average cutting board contains 200 times more fecal bacteria than a toilet seat. This is because you are cutting meat on it. Raw meat really does contain fecal bacteria, including salmonella from raw chicken, which is a nasty germ.
KEYBOARD
The other dirty item is the keyboard, according to University of Arizona research. The keyboard has 400 times more bacteria than the average toilet seat.
MOBILE PHONE
Your cell phone is 10 times dirtier than a toilet seat! All the bacteria in your cell comes from your fingers and the side of your face. When you touch anything in the world while playing games, you collect germs, mix with your body’s oily secretions and infect your entire screen.
PILLOWCASE
Pillowcases are just as dirty as toilet seats, according to research led by North Carolina State University biologist Rob Dunn.
TOOTH BRUSH CONTAINER
According to toilet scientists, when you flush, bacteria and viruses become aerosols and float around the room until they get to your toothbrush, but the dirtiest thing in your bathroom is probably the toothbrush bowl.
TV REMOTE
According to a survey by British furniture retailer Scs, around 67% of people never clean their television’s remote control. There is a consensus that your remote is 20 times more bacteria-laden than your toilet seat.
DOG FOOD CONTAINER
According to research conducted by NSF International, your dog’s bowl is about 10 times dirtier than the toilet.
CLEAN LAUNDRY
According to a study published in Frontiers in Microbiology, washing machines (especially clothes washed in cold water with environmentally friendly detergents) cause “microbial exchange of influencing water bacteria, skin and clothing bacteria, and biofilm-related bacteria.”
In other words, it spreads bacteria and dirt evenly on your clothes. Your clean laundry sometimes has more bacteria than toilets.
