Every day she and her husband Aryan Sikkema got up at 8:00 to wave to children cycling past. Last June, the couple was put in the spotlight by children from the nearby primary school Het Spoor. RTV Utrecht was there to record this, at the time Els Sikkema said that she was terminally ill and had metastatic cancer.
