Water leak at SUS in Lund stops operations

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

The water leak was discovered at 5 o’clock in the morning. The water has affected a couple of departments on the fifth floor of the Block and has also flowed into an elevator hall.

– We have found the leak during the morning and managed to stop it, but it affects operations during the day, says Magnus Aspegren, press officer at Scania University Hospital.

The hospital has gone into staff mode and today’s planned operations have been cancelled. The emergency room is still open, but ambulances are diverted to other hospitals.

The emergency services were on the scene from just after five to just after nine.

– It was extensive work that had a major impact on the departments concerned, among other things the water has affected the lifts, says Mats Nilsson, officer on duty at the South Rescue Service.

In addition to the water pipe that leaked, coolant also leaked out and affected the department. There is currently no forecast for how long the operation will last.

– It will definitely affect the whole day, we don’t know more than that right now, says Magnus Aspegren, press officer at Skåne University Hospital.
