Water chaos threatens Värnamo: “Leave room for flooding”

Leksand extended the winning streak beat AIK

SMHI has issued a red warning, the highest level, for flooding in several places – for the first time since the new levels were introduced.

During the weekend, a critically high water level is expected in Lagan, and the Värna mobs are getting ready for the worst. 1.7 kilometers of flood barriers will help against the huge masses of water that are expected.

– Of course we are prepared, of course. If you have a basement, you should look over it and try to remove valuable things and leave room for a possible flood, says Jon Aldenklev, operations leader for the rescue service in Värnamo.

It is above all melted snow and large amounts of rain that threaten to cause it in several places in southern Sweden and which causes SMHI to issue its warnings.

– It takes a lot for us to issue red warnings in general. We have done it a few times just for different weather, says Christopher Greenland at SMHI to TT.
