Thursday night’s NHL match (Ottawa–Detroit) in Stockholm offered real drama. Ottawa took a 4-0 lead – but lost to 4-4 after goals from, among others, Swedish star Lucas Raymond.

In overtime, with two seconds left, Ottawa’s Tim Stutzle became the hero with a dream goal.

– I was just trying to get it on target really. Then I don’t think the goalie saw the puck really, it was a fantastic feeling, says Stutzle.

He is praised by teammate Brady Tkachuk.

– He grabbed the club and followed through (the blow). I’ve seen a lot of (baseball) home runs in my day and to see that was surreal, Tkachuk said

Raymond: “Wanted to win”

Raymond was disappointed after the loss in front of the home crowd.

– Sad not to come away with a win. It was fun to score in the home country, but you would have liked to win, he says.

The NHL match in Stockholm is part of the Global Series. On Friday, Toronto and Detroit meet in Stockholm. Then Minnesota-Ottawa and Toronto-Minnesota await this weekend.
