Storm Babet took over Sweden during the night. Fallen trees, floods and strong winds have caused major problems for many residents around the country.
– It was a disaster in the marina. The boats were drifting out to sea, says Therese Löfgren in Åhus.
During Saturday morning, several viewer images of the storm Babet trickled in to TV4. Åhus resident Therese Löfgren is one of these and tells TV4 Nyheterna about the night’s drama. Several people in the neighborhood, including her own son, went down to the marina in Åhus in the middle of the night where several boats were about to be torn loose and drift out to sea.
– It was a disaster in the marina. The boats were drifting out to sea. So a few were down to help. Everyone in Åhus knows how it was. But nothing could be done, says Therese Löfgren.
The pier completely destroyed
It is not yet clear how extensive the consequences of the night’s storm have been. But several acquaintances have already contacted her on Saturday morning with gloomy news.
– It is a disaster. The wharf in the harbor was completely flooded and there are things that have blown to pieces. We have friends who live there by the Åhusbryggan and it is completely destroyed. Åhusbryggan is a long pier where you can usually enjoy the view, but now it is completely destroyed.
– It is clear that this kind of thing is unpleasant and it destroys so many people. The neighbors think, just like me, that it’s unfunny, says Therese Löfgren.
