10 years after Under the Skin: The Zone of Interest disturbs with unseen horror

The Zone of Interest revolves around Rudolf Höß (Christian Friedel) and his wife Hedwig (Sandra Hülser), who want to build a tranquil, peaceful existence for themselves in Poland in the 1940s. Höß is the commandant of the Auschwitz concentration camp and the shared villa is 100 meters from the nearest crematorium.

We’ve already seen the new film by sci-fi genius Glazer and are both thrilled and deeply disturbed. What you see here are no firing squads or showers filled with Zyklon B, but rather blooming fields, sparkling lakes and cozy living rooms. But the monstrosity is present in the background and on the sound level. She makes people sick of the everyday life of the SS family and their banality of evil.
