The 8th season the US crime series SWAT is running since November 5th on German television. This might surprise fans of the action format, as there have been months between the US premiere – this time on October 18th – and the German release.
The new season comes to us unexpectedly anyway, after the series had already been heading towards a finale at the end of the 7th season. As Deadline reported in April of this year, they changed their minds at short notice and ordered another chapter, which is now hitting screens.
SWAT Season 8: This is how the action series continues
In the first episode of SWAT Season 8, things get personal for Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson (Shemar Moore) when a group of students and their bus driver are reported missing. The driver is his former football coach from his high school days. In Episode 2, the 20 Squad team must team up with a Los Angeles sheriff to investigate brutal drug house robberies.
New to Hondo’s team is Devin Gamble, played by Annie Ilonzeh (Chicago Fire). However, some in the 20 Squad team have reservations about the new colleague because of her family’s ties to the criminal underworld. Will the former LAPD prodigy be able to prove himself? Hondo has confidence in Devin and believes she can become a valuable part of the team with her intuition and knowledge of the street.
According to Deadline, Officer Miguel Alfaro, played by Niko Pepaj, was happy about a cast promotion. He will be part of the main characters from season 8 onwards and will have more screen time.
