Watch out for your kids May cause cancer in the

It is known that being overweight has an effect on the formation of many diseases. Weight causes negative situations both in terms of appearance and health. Although the weight seen in young children is seen as harmless and sweet by the society, it causes serious problems in the future. Oncology Specialist Prof. Dr. Uğur Coşkun said that being overweight in adults is associated with many cancers, including bowel, kidney and breast cancer. The number of people with obesity is increasing day by day due to the change in eating habits and the increasing interest in ready-to-eat foods.

CANCER RISK INCREASE IN OVERWEIGHT CHILDREN

Stating that there is not enough information about the relationship between childhood and early adulthood obesity and cancer, Prof. Dr. Coşkun said, “Jimmy Celind and his friends published an important study on this subject a few days ago in the Cancer Communications journal. In the study conducted at the University of Gothenburg, approximately 36 thousand men were screened and the weight status of the same individual between the ages of 8 and 20 was evaluated. It has been shown that children who are overweight at the age of eight have an increased risk of cancer in adulthood. Similarly, being overweight in the 20s increases the risk of cancer in the future. But one of the most interesting results of the study is that even if a child who is obese at the age of 8 returns to his normal weight in his 20s, the increased cancer risk of approximately 40 percent still continues.

THE RISK OF CANCER CONTINUES, EVEN WEAKNESS WITH AGE

Expressing that being overweight in childhood brings with it many health problems, Prof. Dr. Coşkun gave the following information: “It is extremely important to show that it causes cancer risk in adulthood. More importantly, even if the ideal weight is reached in adolescence and beyond, the increased cancer risk due to childhood obesity continues. Therefore, it is important for families to pay attention to weight control during childhood. “Unfortunately, in our society, the wrong approach that an overweight child is healthy is sometimes accepted. These beliefs of grandmothers and grandmothers during childcare also trigger obesity. However, the way to be healthy both in childhood and adulthood is through ideal weight control. We can do this from childhood with our exercise and diet. We have to try to get it.”
