Watch how Finlands top snowboarders sought victory in the World

Enni Rukajärvi and Kalle Järvilehto put everything on the line at the opening of the big Air World Cup. Järvilehto himself and his raft also took a hit.

Kalle Järvilehto and Enni Rukajärvi made it to the finals in the top eight at the opening of the snowboarding world cup. Järvilehto was seventh and Rukajärvi eighth in Chur in the big air competition.

The Finns put everything on the line and went for race wins. However, Rukajärvi did not succeed in caballerial 1080. At Järvilehto, 1620 switch backside was missing again.

– An absolutely incredible day and final. Enni and Kalle both put everything into play. They didn’t set out to get any FIS points, they just wanted to win. Kalle had a jackpot nearby, and Enni’s caballerial 1080 went well, coaching manager Jussi Mononen glowed in the Snowboard Association’s announcement.

Järvilehto colorfully described his company in the press release.

– I took a bit of a piss in it, screwed up the board and took a doping test. That’s all there is to it. We started looking for a win, but it didn’t come right now. I had a feeling that I would have been able to do it, but it was quite difficult to run. Now it didn’t quite hit the spot, but it will come.

After the competition, Järvilehto published a video on his Instagram account in the story section, where he smilingly showed off his board that had taken a hit and the scratches on his back.

Rukajärvi said after the race that the jacket was quite empty.

– I went to the finals myself to test tricks. I haven’t tried big tricks yet, so in training I focused on trying them, but this time they didn’t come up in the race.

Remember the Finns Telma Särkipaju was 13th in his World Cup debut. Rene Rinnekangas was eliminated from the finals by falls. Mikko Rehnberg crashed his first qualifying jump and did not get enough points on his second jump. Rinnekangas was 30th and Rehnberg 20th in the final results.
