This addition brings to 107 the number of Chinese companies listed on the Department of Homeland Security blacklist since 2021. All sectors are affected, from agriculture to mining production to a whole range of products made from raw materials extracted in the Xinjiang region of western China, such as aluminum , copper, gold or nickel.

Beijing is accused of pursuing a policy of repression and massive internment of the Uyghur Muslim minority and other religious minorities. The presence of labor camps managed by the Chinese Communist Party is documented by several international investigations, the most critical of which go so far as to denounce a “genocide”. Accusations and investigations brushed aside by China which claims that it is simply a training center.

The only way for Chinese companies to escape this ban on exporting to the United States is to prove that they have not used forced labor at any stage of their production chain.
