It was a Monday morning that an employee from the home care service discovered that the home care recipient had no food at home. There was neither breakfast nor other food that the employee could heat and give to the person, according to the report to IVO.
The only thing in the fridge was an egg. There was a piece of meat in the freezer.
According to the plan, food would have been purchased by the home service on the Friday before. But it had never been done. The home care recipient thus had to manage without food for the entire weekend.
The incident occurred in January and now a Lex Sarah report has been made to IVO.
The home care service’s own investigation has shown that there were clear deficiencies in the communication and control within the staff group regarding the purchase of food for the home care recipients.
Several measures must be taken to ensure that something similar does not happen again.
