The first discovery during construction works
On January 14, the construction workers found a “suspicious object” while digging the floor in the Scotts Park playground. Initially, it was not clear what the object was, but the first investigations revealed that this object was a exercise bomb from the 2nd World War.

Research started in the region
Following the discovery, Brimstone Site Investigations, a company specialized in exploded ammunition, was assigned to start research in the region.
This company took part in the safe neutralization of the explosives and whether there was any other exploded ammunition in the region.
On the first research day, the team found 65 pounds of exercise bombs and fog cartridges. These explosives are explosives that are used for training purposes and can often cause environmental damage.
On the second day of the work, a total of 176 exploded bombs were found with 90 more exercise bombs and safely moved to the storage area. The coexistence of such an explosive ammunition was an indication of how deep the effects of the war in the region were.
The Ministry of Defense’s investigation at the scene
