A man in his 70s who had applied to the emergency room at a hospital in Jönköping county was sent home without a medical assessment. Just hours later, he returned unconscious with a large brain hemorrhage, and died a few days later, Jönköpings-Posten reports.

The incident occurred in September last year when the man sought emergency medical care. The man was under the influence of alcohol and had no visible signs of injury.

After an initial assessment, the man wanted to leave, which the hospital allowed him to do.

Eight hours later he returned to the emergency room and was then unconscious. The doctors then found a large brain haemorrhage, and a few days later the man died.

Region Jönköping has reported the incident according to lex Maria.
