A 44-year-old man with a driver’s license from New Zealand was stopped by the police on Södermalm in Stockholm in December 2023.
As the man had been registered in Sweden for more than a year, he was convicted of illegal driving, according to a judgment from the Stockholm District Court, which News24 took part in. Driving licenses issued outside ESS are not valid if the driver has been registered in Sweden for more than one year.

He is sentenced to 30 daily fines, and must pay SEK 30,000.
