A 25-year-old man in Gothenburg was caught by the police with twelve kilos of amphetamine in a bag. Now he is sentenced to five years and four months in prison and deportation for ten years for serious drug offences, writes Göteborgs-Posten.

It was in August last year that police detectives noticed a small van in the Lövgärdet district. A visibly stressed driver got out and started fiddling with his mobile phone. The police made contact.

– When we asked to look in his bag, the air kind of went out of him and he started banging his head against a house facade, says one of the police officers during interrogation, according to GP.

In the black bag were eight brown taped packages containing the drug. The value is estimated at around SEK 2.5 million.

The man denies wrongdoing and claims he thought he was just sneaking tools into the bag. But the district court states in the verdict that the investigation “speaks with strength” that the man acted as a drug courier fully consciously.
