The surprise hit Cult of the Lamb received a free update on January 16th, with which you can now pair your followers with each other. Since the patch, player numbers on Steam have increased 5-fold.
If you look at the homepage of the database website Steamdb, you may notice the “Trending Games” category. Cult of the Lamb is currently in first place. On the evening of January 16th, the number of players rose from an average of 3,000 to 16,000, more than fivefold in a short period of time. But why is that?
The new “Sins of the Flesh” update, which arrived in the cute and evil game on January 16th, could be responsible for this.

What’s with the increase in player numbers? The title “Sins of the Flesh” alone made fans think of only one thing when the announcement was made, and the rumor of a “sex update” spread.
In a very short time, the number of Cult of the Lamb players rose from around 1,500-3,400 to over 16,000. The free content update also went online that day and apparently attracted numerous new and old cult leaders.

What kind of update is this? “Sins of the Flesh” not only includes the feature that leaders can now mate their followers with each other in the mating tent. In addition, it is possible that they get an egg in the process – thereby providing “fresh meat” for the cult.

The update also brings new upgrades for your temple, but also other buildings, such as a tailor, a cocktail bar, a drum circle, and new rituals. In one of them, your followers dance naked in a circle – and yes, it really is as absurd and funny as it sounds.
Actually, the whole thing seems almost too sweet and too cheerful for a game in which you lead a cult with your dark demands, sacrifice followers and sometimes eat them. But don’t worry: there’s also alcohol and guns in Cult of the Lamb. And the reaction to this announcement at the time was very enthusiastic.
