    Warns of Ebola in Uganda

Due to an Ebola outbreak, the US Foreign Ministry calls for their citizens still “great caution” when traveling in Uganda, the AP writes.

The US Foreign Ministry also writes that the United States helps Ugandan health authorities deal with the threat.

Swedish Foreign Ministry has not added any travel recommendations for Uganda on its website, but mentions the Ebola outbreak on January 30.

In its recommendation, American Foreign Ministry writes that travelers should avoid people with symptoms, and avoid visiting health care facilities if you do not have urgent need for care.

Ugandan authorities reported last week that a nurse died in the suites after the Eybola bleeding fever at a hospital in the capital Kampala.

According to the AP, the nurse had traveled around to medical facilities throughout Uganda before she died, and the concern for a major outbreak is great.

Niger orders the Red Cross to leave the country

The governing military junta in Niger has ordered the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC) to leave the country immediately, says a source.

Niger must have “completed his agreements” with ICRC and some foreign staff have begun to leave the West African country. According to the source, the organization has also closed its office in the capital Niamey on Tuesday – which is also reported by Nigerian media.

No reason for the decision has been stated.

The Red Cross has been working in Niger since 1990 and has recently focused on help to people who have fallen victim to violence performed by jihadist groups with links to the terrorist movements al-Qaeda and IS.

Since the military junta in 2023, Niger has taken power in Niger, the leaders have made “national sovereignty” a key word. Juntan’s relationship with the former colonial power France is chilly and instead ties with the juntas in Burkina Faso and Mali, as well as Russia.

Since the takeover, Niger has expelled both French and American soldiers, as well as the French ambassador.

No fine for Poland – despite the change of power

Poland does not receive any of the billion fines withdrawn from the country during the former government’s long-standing dispute with the European Commission on the independence of the courts.

The EU Court today rejected a Polish requirement to write off at least parts of the fine. In total, the country was punished with a fine of the equivalent of SEK 3.6 billion, which was deducted from Poland’s EU grants during 2022 and 2023.

A Polish EU source comments on the ruling as “yet another proof” that the ancient government’s measures went against the EU constitution. If the new government – which took office in December 2023 – will still appeal the decision is not yet clear.

This is, among other things, that buyers have not received sufficient information and digital contracts.

When the investigation is complete, the consumer protection authorities will inform Shein about the result. Only then may it be relevant to communicate the result of the investigation to the public as the content of the investigation is covered by confidentiality.
