Brilliant sun awaits many midsummer celebrants – but also a high risk of forest fires. The Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB) is now calling for caution during the weekend. The high risk is due to the early summer’s dry weather in combination with the midsummer heat that is expected. The warning applies to large parts of the country, but the greatest risk is in southern and southeastern Sweden. As of midsummer evening, MSB has a total of eight helicopters on standby in Luleå, Östersund, Västerås and Jönköping. There are also four scooping aircraft on standby at Skavsta Airport in Nyköping. In the clip above, MSB tells more about what to think about the current fire risk.
